The subject briefs listed here are for Horton IB course offerings as of January 2019.
The IBO has yet to publish subject briefs for the new mathematics courses being offered for the first time in September 2019. This page will be updated as soon as that information is made available. Until then, here is a general description of each math course we will be offering at Horton:
Mathematics: Analysis and approaches SL is intended for students who wish to pursue studies in mathematics at university or subjects that have a large mathematical content; it is for students who enjoy developing mathematical arguments, problem solving and exploring real and abstract applications, with and without technology. This course is replacing what used to be Mathematics SL.
Mathematics: Applications and interpretation SL is being designed for students who enjoy describing the real world and solving practical problems using mathematics; those who are interested in harnessing the power of technology alongside exploring mathematical models and enjoy the more practical side of mathematics. This course is replacing what used to be Mathematical Studies SL. This course is an online course offered through the Nova Scotia Virtual School (NSVS).
